Springfield Armory® Introduces Laser Equipped 1911 Loaded Model

GENESEO, IL, January 11, 2015 – Springfield Armory® is pleased to announce a new member to the Loaded family of 1911 pistols. The new Springfield Armory® 1911 Loaded Parkerized pistol is now available with Crimson Trace® Lasergrips®.

Rounding out the five other Loaded 1911 configurations in the product line, the Loaded Parkerized is optimized for serious defensive use. The Parkerized finish is designed to stand up to the rigors of daily carry while the full Government size makes it an excellent home-defense option too. Like other models in the Loaded family, the Parkerized model is built for reliable performance. A five-inch stainless match grade barrel is carefully fit to a bushing and Parkerized forged carbon steel frame and slide for maximum reliability and accuracy.

Customers who want the ease of control offered by a full size 1911 will appreciate the marriage of tradition with life-saving technology. This new Loaded model includes Crimson Trace® Lasergrips® to provide customers with fast, instinctive, and effective low-light sighting options.

“The addition of the laser means you can react more quickly in response to a threat,” says Dennis Reese, Chairman of the Board at Springfield Armory®.  “I don’t know if there’s anything more comforting than that.”

An instinctive activation button turns the laser on with no switch manipulation required. Assume a firing grip, and the laser is automatically projected downrange toward the target. The low-profile grip replacements have no impact on holster selection so that customers can choose their favorite Government size holster. As a self-defense model, the Loaded Parkerized comes standard with three-dot Tritium combat sights.

“The goal of our Loaded product line is to provide customers with pistols that are ready to go, out of the box, with everything they might need for serious types of usage,” says Springfield Armory® CEO Dennis Reese. “To us, Loaded doesn’t represent a single combination of features. Rather, we create a number of different configurations within the Loaded family to meet different types of customer needs.”

Because everyone’s definition of Loaded is a little different, Springfield Armory® now offers six different models in the series, each with its unique set of features. For example, the LB Operator® offers an extra round in the magazine, while the Lightweight Operator® uses a forged aluminum alloy frame to shave extra weight for concealed carry applications. The traditional Parkerized and Stainless Steel models are forged with a traditional dust cover while the Marine Corps Operator®, LB Operator®, and Lightweight Operator® models include Picatinny rails for more tactical use.

Depending on the specific Loaded configuration, customers will find premium features like ambidextrous thumb safeties, extended beavertail grip safeties with memory bumps, lightweight delta hammers, and extended triggers. Two included magazines and a very high quality polymer briefcase round out the package.

Springfield Armory® will be offering the Loaded Parkerized Crimson Trace® pistol in .45ACP.

NYPD Approves Springfield Armory® XD-S® For Off-Duty Use

GENESEO, IL, May 4, 2016 – Springfield Armory® is pleased to announce that effective April 7, 2016, a special edition of the XD-S® 9mm was approved by the New York City Police Department. Off-duty uniformed officers are now able to select the XD-S® 9mm pistol as their carry gun of choice.

The New York City Police Department wanted to afford off-duty officers with a pistol option that provided maximum concealment with absolute reliability. As a single-stack 9mm pistol with superior ergonomic features, the XD-S® fit the bill for concealment and controllability. With the new approval, NYPD officers may also carry the XD-S® 9mm NYPD Model as a backup gun while on duty as well.

The NYPD Firearms and Tactics Unit worked in cooperation with the Springfield Armory® engineering and design teams to develop a special edition of the popular XD-S® carry pistol that conforms to the exact requirements of the NYPD. After passing the department’s rigorous testing procedures, the Springfield Armory® XD-S® gained acceptance for use with no performance modifications and only minor adjustments to meet NYPD policy guidelines.

“We’re pleased that we were able to work with the team in the Firearms Training Section to meet specific needs of the department,” stated Dennis Reese, CEO, Springfield Armory®. “Our engineering team developed a new disconnector and grip safety spring that adjusts the trigger pull weight of the XD-S® to the specific policy requirements of the NYPD. The concealed carry community has responded to the XD-S® with overwhelming approval so we’re pleased that law enforcement officers can use it too.”

The NYPD-approved XD-S® pistol includes many of the same features that have made the handgun so popular in the broader concealed carry market. At just .9-inches wide, the XD-S® is easy to carry and conceal. The NYPD special edition pistol comes with three 9mm magazines including a seven-round flush model and two eight-round extended magazines. Like the commercial XD-S® the NYPD model includes a 3.3-inch hammer forged carbon steel barrel treated with Melonite™. With the flush magazine installed, the overall weight of the pistol is 23 ounces.

The Springfield Armory® Law Enforcement team completed the XD-S® Armorer’s Training Program April 9th, marking the official launch of the program to all uniformed officers. A detailed armorer’s manual produced by Springfield Armory® enables the NYPD Firearms Training Section and other law enforcement agencies to expand training internally after the launch event.

Now used for on and off duty carry at hundreds of law enforcement agencies across the country, The New York Police Department is the latest law enforcement agency to recognize the reliability and functional benefits of the XD®, XD(M)®, and XD-S® handgun platform.

The NYPD XD-S® is available now to qualified officers through local law enforcement dealers as model number XDS9339BNYPD.

Springfield Armory® Releases Limited Edition Chris Kyle 1911 Legend Series TRP™ Pistol

GENESEO, IL May 3rd, 2016 – Springfield Armory® is pleased to announce the Legend Series 1911 TRP™ Pistol. In cooperation with the Chris Kyle Foundation and the Chris Kyle family the company aims to honor the spirit of American Sniper and Navy Seal Chris Kyle while providing direct support to the foundation.

While in combat, Chris chose the Springfield Armory TRP™ for its reliable performance and toughness. In his words in best-selling book, American Sniper, he tells how that TRP™ may have saved his life.

“In 2004, I brought over a Springfield [Armory®] TRP™ Operator, which used a .45 caliber round. It had a 1911 body style, with custom grips and a rail system that let me add a light and laser combo. Black, it had a bull barrel and was an excellent gun – until it took a frag for me in Fallujah. I was actually able to get it repaired – those Springfields are tough.”

Springfield Amory® will produce one thousand TRP™ Legend Series pistols, each with a unique serial number ranging from CK0001 through CK1000. Separately, the company will laser engrave each pistol identifying its placement in the series.

The Legend Series pistols will come packaged in a custom and also serialized mahogany presentation case. Additionally, a memorial copy of the best-selling book, American Sniper, signed by Taya Kyle will accompany the package. The attractive presentation case also includes a .999 pure silver Chris Kyle limited edition challenge coin and a Springfield Armory® certificate of authenticity.

The MSRP of the Legend TRP™ commemorative edition pistol is $2,499, with a portion of the proceeds from each pistol sold benefitting the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.

The first pistol in the Legend Series was presented to Taya Kyle by Springfield Armory® CEO Dennis Reese at a ceremony during the 2016 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Kyle immediately announced her intention to auction this one of a kind pistol during the 2016 National Rifle Association Annual Meeting, with all proceeds to benefit the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. Taya Kyle will auction Chris Kyle Legend Series 1911 TRP™ Pistol #1. This auction will take place in Springfield Armory® booth #5823 at the NRA annual meetings in Louisville, KY.

The on-line auction will go live Sunday May 1st   under Springfield Armory®’s charity account on GunBroker.com and will end at 3:00pm May 21st   at the NRA annual meetings. Live bidding will start at 2:45pm in the booth. Persons who wish to bid live in the booth for this #1 Limited edition pistol can sign up in the booth at 2:00pm with a Springfield representative and receive a number and bidding paddle.

View live auction: http://www.gunbroker.com/Item/554032581

Taya Kyle will be present to award the winner (if winner is present) with the pistols along with Springfield Armory® President and CEO Dennis Reese. Upon completion of the auction, Springfield Armory® will also present a check to Taya Kyle for the full amount of auction proceeds.

The following people will sign the serial #1 pistol certificate of authenticity: Taya Kyle of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, Dennis Reese President and CEO of Springfield Armory®, Wayne LaPierre Executive Vice President of the NRA and Chris Cox NRA-ILA’s Executive Director.

Now run by Taya Kyle, the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation supports members and families of those who serve. According to Taya Kyle, “One of the big benefits of doing this with Springfield Armory® is that part of the proceeds will go to the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to honor God, country and family by serving those who serve. To us, that represents the marriages and family life of our law enforcement, EMS, and military communities.”

“We’re very pleased to support Taya and the Frog Foundation,” explained Springfield Armory® CEO Dennis Reese. “When on deployment, Chris Kyle carried a Springfield Armory® 1911 TRP™ Operator pistol, so we felt it appropriate to make this special edition pistol to honor his memory and support the ongoing work of the foundation. Very much like American hero Chris Kyle, this pistol is truly one of a kind.”

The Legend Series pistols feature five-inch stainless steel match grade barrels, low-profile three-dot Tritium combat sights, and black and gray G10 grips with an attractive American flag engraving. The slides are forged carbon steel with Black Nitride™ treatment for durability and corrosion resistance. A National Match full-length guide rod rounds out the 8.6-inch long government model 1911. Each pistol ships with two seven-round stainless steel magazines with slam pads.

At the conclusion of the NRA Annual meetings shipments of the Limited Edition Chris Kyle pistols will arrive at firearms dealers throughout the country.

Springfield Armory® Releases The M1A™ Socom 16 CQB

GENESEO, IL, January 17, 2016 – Trusted for decades for its authoritative stopping power and reliability, the M1A™ platform is now optimized for close quarters defensive use. Springfield Armory® is proud to announce the newest member of the M1A™ family, the Socom 16 CQB.

The Socom 16 CQB is not just a smaller and more maneuverable M1A™; it’s been designed specifically to excel in close quarter applications. Nearly ten inches shorter than the M1A™ standard model, the CQB offers quick and easy handling for defensive use indoors or out.

The reduced size is the obvious part. What makes the Socom 16 CQB shine are the handling improvements. The all new adjustable buttstock is mounted on a standard AR-type receiver extension tube, so customers can choose from hundreds of compatible stock options to suit their specific mission requirements. The Socom 16 CQB features a new pistol grip that facilitates retention and control over the rifle with the firing hand. The grip itself is AK-rifle compatible, so it can easily be swapped with any standard aftermarket model. In short, the grip and control components are specifically designed to allow interoperability with the widest possible array of aftermarket options to suit specific customer needs.

“There’s never been a question about the effectiveness of the M1A™ platform for serious fight-stopping use,” observes Springfield Armory® CEO Dennis Reese. “With the Socom 16 CQB we wanted to really optimize the platform for indoor or field close quarters use.”

A close combat rifle requires customization when it comes to accessories like lights, lasers and optics. The Socom 16 CQB leverages the M-Lok™  compatible system for easy attachment of gear exactly where it’s needed. Two included three-slot rail segments can be mounted at the three and nine o’clock positions. A longer seven-slot rail at the six o’clock position is perfect for mounting a bipod or other accessories. On top and forward of the receiver, mounted on the barrel, is a medium eye relief seven-slot rail capable of mounting a scout optic should needs dictate longer range shooting.

Since the Socom 16 CQB is a member of the M1A™ family, it accepts all the same magazines as other M1A™ models so users can choose from 5, 10, or 20-round magazines. A ten-round magazine is included with the CQB.

The Socom 16 CQB is ready for defensive use right out of the box. The XS Sights Tritium front sight post glows day or night when viewed through the adjustable rear aperture sight. Users who prefer optical sighting can choose a CQB factory model pre-configured with a Springfield Armory® proprietary Vortex Venom Red Dot sight.

The new M1A™ Socom 16 CQB arrives packaged in a new custom ballistic nylon Springfield Armory® “Tactical Gear” soft case complete with internal support straps, owners manual storage pocket, and pouches for up to three spare magazines.

Whether for home defense, law enforcement, or field use, users will appreciate the new Socom 16 CQB. It’s designed for maximum utility without any sacrifice of firepower.

Springfield Armory® Adds New Enhanced Micro Pistol (EMP®)

GENESEO, IL, January 16, 2016 – New for 2016, Springfield Armory® presents a dramatic improvement to the EMP®, arguably one of the most popular and shootable pistols ever. Perfectly proportioned extensions of length and height make the new EMP® four-inch Lightweight Champion™ easier to shoot while adding ammunition capacity.

Springfield Armory® engineered the original EMP® with an all-new patented short action. Seventeen parts later, the EMP® came out a smaller, more comfortable, and more concealable package optimized for the smaller 9mm cartridge. Among the community those who know, it has earned a reputation for controllable concealability.

The all-new EMP® offers a longer four-inch barrel that presents a longer sight radius and simplified practical accuracy. Depending on specific ammunition choice, the extended barrel length will also add an extra 20 to 60 feet per second of muzzle velocity. That helps premium self-defense ammunition perform up to its designed potential.

Springfield Armory® CEO Dennis Reese notes, “While the original EMP® three-inch models are surprisingly easy to handle, we wanted to continue to make it better. The extra weight up front on the new four-inch model not only helps dampen felt recoil, it helps control muzzle flip, allowing shooters to complete faster and more accurate follow-up shots.”

The frame height has also been carefully increased with similar proportions. The new grip allows plenty of room for a solid two-handed hold, even for shooters with larger hands. While the original EMP® 9mm held nine rounds in the magazine, the new four-inch model fits ten plus one in the chamber. The new model retains the same slender grip circumference that made the original EMP® so popular.

Like the original, the EMP® four-inch sports slim-line Cocobolo wood grips and two-tone forged 416 stainless steel slide and 7075 black anodized aluminum frame. A fiber optic front sight and two-dot, low-profile combat rear sight for effortless target acquisition.

Value added extras like the proprietary Springfield Armory® Posi-Lok™  texture on the front of the grip frame are included at no extra cost as is the matching texture on the mainspring housing.

“It’s an elite quality pistol,” explains Reese.  “regarding size, this EMP® four-inch is one of the smallest on the market.  The four-inch slide allows for a more user-friendly experience while the smaller grip maintains the optimal size for concealed carry.”

While the EMP® four-inch might be the perfect carry gun, it’s new size makes it ideal for home defense, fun at the range, or a little friendly competition.

Springfield Armory® Launches New XD® Mod.2™ Tactical Model

GENESEO, IL, January 15, 2016 – Sometimes bigger is better. That’s exactly the goal of the new XD® Mod.2™ Tactical model from Springfield Armory®.

Designed for recreation, self-defense, or competition, this full-size XD® not only offers big capacity but faster-aiming capability thanks to its extra long sight radius. The five-inch barrel not only delivers every possible bit of extra velocity, but it also adds a little more weight up front, which helps control recoil and muzzle flip, allowing shooters to get back on target faster.

“Finally!  This is the Mod.2™ I have been waiting for!” says Rob Leatham, Captain of Team Springfield™. “The XD® Mod.2™ Tactical is optimized to increase its performance.  It has a longer slide, a full-length frame, increased weight and an increased gripping area size,” he explains enthusiastically, “This gun is pretty much everything I want in a competition-capable package without being too big, or too heavy for other uses.”

The XD® Mod.2™ 5” Tactical Model packs 16+1 rounds of 9mm ammo in its two included stainless steel magazines. While it’s a double stack design, it’s not too thick to carry like so many competitors’ models. Measuring just 1.19 inches wide, it’s a good tenth of an inch narrower than most double stacks on the market and barely wider than single stack pistols with far less capacity.

Whether used on the competitive range or for more tactical scenarios, fast and accurate shooting requires control, so all of the Mod.2™ enhancements are included. High cutouts on the back of the grip and behind the trigger put support near the bore line to minimize muzzle flip. The new Grip Zone® contours and texturing are specifically designed to provide maximum purchase at those points where hands and fingers require the most contact. Three different textures provide the grip surface needed without painful overkill.

The sights are designed for fast acquisition, leveraging the combination of fiber optic front paired with a low profile combat rear sight. The bright fiber optic tube leaps into view while the rear sight is shaped so it won’t catch on holsters or clothing.

The new XD® Mod.2™ Tactical model is available in black with a Melonite® slide or Bi-Tone with a forged stainless steel slide. Overall dimensions measure 8.3 inches long and 5.5 inches tall.

Built for high volume use, the Mod.2™ Tactical isn’t a gun that will require babying. This combat-ready gun is designed to be used, not left in the safe.

Springfield Armory® Announces New XD-S® Pistol With Crimson Trace® Laserguard®

GENESEO, IL, January 14, 2016 – Springfield Armory® is pleased to announce that it’s easier than ever for customers to purchase and configure the perfect concealed carry handgun.

Known for its ultimate concealability, the svelte profile Springfield Armory® XD-S® is ideal for concealed carry. The single-stack design keeps it thin, yet perfect proportions make it an easy and enjoyable handgun to shoot. Now, it’s even better. Springfield Armory® has teamed with the industry leader in laser sighting technology to equip the XD-S®  with the Crimson Trace® Laserguard® right out of the box.

The tiny bundle of life-saving technology closely follows the contours of the XD-S® frame, so it doesn’t add unnecessary bulk. Activation of the laser is instinctive via a small push pad that shines the laser immediately as the shooter takes a natural firing grip – there is no need to remember switches or controls in the heat of the moment.

“Our goal with the XD-S® product line has always been to make it the perfect concealed carry pistol,” states Dennis Reese, Springfield Armory® CEO. “Now, through our work with Crimson Trace® we’re adding faster and more reliable target sighting capability. We want to make it easier for our customers to hit their chosen target as quickly as possible while under stress.”

The integrated package remains small and light, consistent with the design goals of the XD-S®. Constructed of a matching polymer, the Laserguard® adds hardly any extra weight. Where the standard XD-S®  9mm weighs in at 22 ounces unloaded, the laser integrated model tips the scales at just 23 ounces.

For traditional sighting in daylight conditions, the XD-S® Crimson Trace® model includes the same fiber optic front sight and low profile combat rear sight that’s so popular on the original XD-S® models.

Everything else in this small, yet powerful, self-defense package is all classic XD-S®.  It’s every bit as slender as the original, yet packs in the 3.3” hammer forged barrel, forged steel slide with Melonite® treatment, and interchangeable backstraps.

The XD-S® 3.3” Single Stack Crimson Trace® model is intended to be the ideal concealed carry gun, so two magazines are included in the box. The flush magazine packs seven rounds of 9mm (5 rounds for the .45 ACP model) while the Mid Mag™ adds one extra round to each caliber.

With the XD-S® Crimson Trace® Laserguard® edition, there’s no excuse not to have every advantage.

Springfield Armory® Launches New Suppressor Ready XD(M)® Pistols

GENESEO, IL, January 12, 2016 – Springfield Armory® is pleased to announce two new suppressor ready XD(M)® handguns. The new 4.5-inch barrel models chambered in 9mm and .45 ACP feature extended pre-threaded barrels and extra-tall suppressor height sights that allow attachment of standard silencers with no customization required.

The new two new XD(M)® 4.5-inch Full-Size models feature flat dark earth frames matched with a forged carbon steel Melonite® slides.

“Shooters are buying suppressors in record numbers,” observed Springfield Armory® CEO Dennis Reese. “”Shooting pistols suppressed is not only enjoyable, it’s also safer for shooters and bystanders both due to the greatly reduced noise levels. It was important to us to make it as easy as possible for our customers to use a suppressor of their choice.”

The 5.28” barrel extends ¾” from the front of the slide, so no adapter is required – customers can simply attach a silencer directly to the existing barrel threads. The 9mm XD(M)® Threaded model features the standard ½” x 28 threading while the .45 ACP model is cut with a .578” x 28 threads per inch pattern. Both models ship with a thread protector cap to prevent damage while shooting unsuppressed.

Both front and rear sights are custom designed and tall enough to ensure visibility over most standard suppressor bodies. The steel three-dot sights are finely serrated on the shooter-facing sides to minimize glare and provide a more crisp sight picture. The front sight rises .365-inches above the top of the slide for unobstructed sight picture visibility.

“We decided to offer the suppressor models in both 9mm and .45 ACP to meet a variety of customer shooting preferences,” says Reese. “.45 ACP is naturally subsonic, and a perfect choice for suppressor use, but we’re also excited about 9mm options. Our counterparts in the ammunition business are making some great and affordable 9mm subsonic rounds, so we wanted to build a gun for that caliber too.”

Beyond the suppressor-specific changes, the XD(M)® 4.5 Threaded Model shares the same great features of the standard XD(M)® models including match grade hammer forged barrels, interchangeable backstraps, and classic XD® ergonomics.

Both new XD(M)® Threaded models ship with three magazines. The 9mm versions hold 19 rounds each while the .45 ACP magazines fit 13.

The new XD(M)® 4.5” Full-Size Threaded offers everything customers desire in a full-size pistol, just in a quieter package.

GENESEO, IL, January 8, 2016 – Springfield Armory® is pleased to announce the addition of a brand new XD-S® carry pistol. The XD-S® .40 rounds out the lineup of the world’s most shooter-friendly carry handgun by adding the popular .40 self-defense caliber. Customers can now choose between all major self-defense calibers – 9mm, .45 ACP, and .40 caliber – in one of the slimmest and easiest to conceal guns on the market.

Law enforcement users will appreciate the new caliber option that is likely to match that of their service gun, simplifying the process of ammo compatibility between primary and backup. Civilian users will appreciate the increased capacity over the .45 ACP XD-S® while still packing a major caliber.

“While customers appreciate the choice between 9mm and .45 ACP in the XD-S® lineup, we wanted to make things easier for our law enforcement users,” says Dennis Reese, Springfield Armory® CEO. “Many departments are standardized on the .40 caliber, and we wanted to make it easier to choose the XD-S® as a backup to their primary service weapon. Besides, many concealed carry customers prefer to carry the same caliber as their local law enforcement officers, so they’ll appreciate having the option of a .40 caliber model too.”

The svelte XD-S® design has become the standard to beat for concealed carry. Just .9 inches wide, the XD-S® is effortless to conceal. Unlike most small handguns, it’s also a pleasure to shoot. The combination of thoughtful grip texturing, interchangeable backstraps and a perfectly proportioned frame allow shooters to get a solid grip and easily control the XD-S®.

Even with its single-stack design, customers don’t have to sacrifice capacity. The new .40 caliber model fits 6+1 rounds using the flush magazine and 7+1 with the included Mid-Mag. The 9mm and .45 ACP models hold 7+1 / 8+1 and 5+1 / 6+1 rounds respectively.

As with the existing 9mm and .45 ACP XD-S® models, the .40 caliber is available with either a black Melonite® or stainless steel slide. Both slide options pair with a weight-saving black polymer frame. The new XD-S® .40 includes a high visibility fiber optic front sight and low profile combat rear sight for snag free draws from the holster.

With the new XD-S® .40, Springfield Armory® has made the world’s most concealable full power pistol lineup even better.
